The doors that hold back a world of change, once opened, release a flood of feelings and ideas. If we aren’t careful, we get overwhelmed, shut down, and drown in it. I noticed a plaque in a friend’s kitchen once and it resonated, “If you can’t feed a hundred people, then feed just one.” – Mother Teresa
We do not need to wait until we have more money, or more time, or better ideas to make change. We can start now, with nothing. The problems of the world are too immediate to wait. Action is required, now.
It wasn’t until I found ethical fashion in 2017, that I put away my hesitation and began to feed people, one at a time. I stopped hiding from the big, hairy, global problems, and I put a face on one, and did something about it. Our focus is on individual stories, and creating an impact, one step at a time, one person at a time.
The idea for my 10-day style challenge was created with this intention. I bring together people in different stages of life, with different talents and abilities, and we make change. We spread awareness. We share ideas. And perhaps most importantly, we invite others to the conversation, recognizing that the problems get smaller with more heads and hands involved in the work.
Start small and bring the revolution to your closet. Are you ready?
