Finding the perfect holiday gifts can be stressful for many reasons, especially when looking for one with lots of meaning to the recipient. The research and budgeting aspects can be just as daunting as thinking of an idea itself.

Since I’ve already done plenty of research, I wanted to share what I’ve discovered to make this shopping season both simple and meaningful.

Fill a cute ethically made leather pouch or wallet with a gift card, small items, or cash for a simple but meaningful holiday gift!

We’d rotate between a tie or new wallet for my Dad for Christmas every year. We might not have had to do it as often if we had gotten him something handmade and quality.

Each charm made at Sseko has a different meaning derived from the stone, bead, or object its made from. They make especially meaningful gifts because they’re hand-signed by the woman who made them.

The truth is, through the hustle of the holiday season, the increased expectations, tight budgets, and a million other reasons, we tend to buy things we don’t need, without intention, and at the expense of people around the world not making a living wage.

But it doesn’t have to be this way!

With a little more planning and forethought we can make a significant difference this holiday season. The average American will spend $700 on holiday gifts and goodies this year, totaling more than $465 billion, the National Retail Federation estimates. Even if we just bought HALF of our gifts from sustainable, ethical companies, we’d be making a HUGE difference in our lives and the lives of millions of people around the world.
